HENRY ATKIN, LONDON, Sidelever, rounded action, sidelock ejector. Made for the Marquess of Winchester c. 1890, gun No.1 of a pair. 2 3/4", TIG sleeved Whitworth Fluid Steel, 30" choked IC/Mod. 15 1/2" highly figured wood to checkered butt. Lop includes a 2 3/8" wood extension and finished to the highest standards. The original Stanton locks were overhauled by Braizer and incorporate a unique intercepting sear design and are of a very high quaility. London Best rose and scroll, beaded fences and of course the sidelever make this a special gun. Cased. 6lbs 9oz.

JOHN DICKSON, EDINBURGH, BLE, 2 3/4", Best quality sleeving done by the gunmaker Allan Crewe from Purdey's. 28", choked IC/IMod. 15 1/2" highly figured wood to leather covered pad. It is worth noting the checkering and finish on the gun are top drawer. Action retains light to moderate case colors and it is not suprising the gun is accented with beaded fences, fine English scroll and a true hidden third fastener - a quality gun indeed. 6lbs 9oz. GE LEWIS, B'HAM, BLE, 3", 32" choked Full/Fuller, original proof for 1 1/2oz. 14 7/8" moderately figured wood - this includes a 7/8" well matched wood extension. Wood is exceptionally clean with crisp checkering. Action retains nearly all its original case colors, has clipped fences, Greener style cross bolt, game scene engraving with the breech end of the barrels engraved to boot. The proof marks tell us the gun was built between 1904 and 1924 - the gun is incredibly fresh - a rare find indeed. 7lbs 10oz.

EDWARD GALE & SON, BIRMINGHAM, BLE, 2 3/4" reproved in 1970. 28" with an assortment of thin wall Briley choke tubes. 14 7/8" re-stocked with a wonderful piece of Juglans regia that came from an un irrigated orchard in California. This is significant because it results in wood that is very dense and tight with good figure and the often elusive fiddle back grain. The action is tight and on face, retains light original case colors and features beaded fences and tasteful scroll engraving. Triggers have been set for a left handed shooter and the gun is cast properly for a southpaw as well. Light weight and nimble at 6lbs 4oz. Engraving on rib has been picked up and blacking of the barresl and furniture was completed not long ago. A well maintained side by side ready for the field.

COGSWELL & HARRISON, LONDON, SLNE, #11689, 2 1/2", 30" modern nitro proved Damascus choked IC/IC. 14 3/4" moderately figured wood to original checkered horn butt plate. Wood overall shows no cracks splits or repairs sitting untouched in original condition. Moderate case color left on the shallow frame, bar action sidelock built on the top lever cocking, Gibbs and Pitt patent. The reverse slide safety reveals the transitional nature of the hammerless gun and demonstrates how the mechanics of a safety had yet to be established. Cased in in its oak and leather case with makers label. 6lbs 10oz. Fully functional and ready to once again to enter the field where it belongs. This guns is forever represented in Cogswell and Harrison's book and can be found on plate 4.
