William Alton Jones owned a 2000+ acre hunting preserve in Rhode Island where he vacationed and entertained his close friend D. Eisenhower and many other dignitaries. The Jones property was given to the University of Rhode Island upon his untimely death in a plane crash. Today it is the Alton Jones Campus and wildlife research center.
